"বনলতা সেন" - জীবনানন্দ দাশ [English Translation]
জীবনানন্দ দাশ (ফেব্রুয়ারি ১৮, ১৮৯৯ - অক্টোবর ২২, ১৯৫৪; বঙ্গাব্দ : ফাল্গুন ৬, ১৩০৫ - কার্তিক ৫, ১৩৬১ : বরিশাল - কলকাতা) "বাংলা সাহিত্যের এক অনন্য প্রতিভার নাম"। বাংলা সাহিত্যে তাঁর মূল বিচরণের ক্ষেত্র "নিসর্গ"। আধুনিক বাংলা কাব্য যখন প্রায় সর্বাংশে রবীন্দ্রময়, ঠিক তখনই এক অভিনব আলোকবর্তিকা হাতে করে, বাংলা কাব্যের জগতে প্রবেশ করলেন তিনি। তিনি ছিলেন বিংশ শতাব্দীর অন্যতম প্রধান আধুনিক বাঙালি কবি, লেখক, প্রাবন্ধিক এবং অধ্যাপক, তিনি ছবিও আঁকতেন। তিনি "বাংলা কাব্যে আধুনিকতার পথিকৃত" -দের মধ্যে অগ্রগণ্য। "রবীন্দ্র-পরবর্তীকালে বাংলা ভাষার প্রধান কবি" হিসাবে তিনি সর্বসাধারণ্যে স্বীকৃত। তাঁকে "বাংলাভাষার শুদ্ধতম কবি" অভিধায় আখ্যায়িত করা হয়ে থাকে। তিনি বাংলা সাহিত্যের "পঞ্চপাণ্ডব" - এর একজন। রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর -জীবনানন্দের কবিতাকে "চিত্ররূপময়" অভিধায় অভিষিক্ত করেছিলেন। বাংলা সাহিত্যে জীবনানন্দ দাশকে "পরবাস্তবাদী" (Surrealist) কবি বলা হয়ে থাকে। তাঁকে বাংলা কবিতায় "সুরিয়েলিজম/পরবাস্তবতা" -এর প্রবক্তা । পরাবাস্তবতা আর জীবনানন্দ দাশের কবিতা প্রায় সমার্থক। বুদ্ধদেব বসু - জীবনানন্দ দাশকে বলেছিলেন : "প্রকৃত কবি ও প্রকৃতির কবি", "রূপসী বাংলার কবি, "তিমিরহননের কবি", "ধূসরতার কবি", "নির্জনতার কবি/নির্জনতম কবি"। সকলের পছন্দের কবি হতে চাননি তিনি। তিনি চেয়েছেন মানসম্মত পাঠক তাকে জানুক যাদের বোধে সাহিত্যটা ভালোভাবে আসে।
বনলতা সেন কাব্য গ্রন্থটি জীবনানন্দ দাশের শ্রেষ্ঠ রচনা। এটি তাঁর তৃতীয় ও শ্রেষ্ঠ কাব্যগ্রন্থ । জীবনানন্দ দাশের শ্রেষ্ঠ কবিতা : "বনলতা সেন"। জনপ্রিয়তম বাংলা কবিতাগুলোর মধ্যে "বনলতা সেন" অন্যতম। বনলতা সেন প্রধানত রোমান্টিক গীতি কবিতা হিসেবে সমাদৃত। জীবনানন্দের কবিতার সর্বত্র প্রেমের অবস্থিতি লক্ষ্যযোগ্য। "বনলতা সেন" কাব্য গ্রন্থের মূল উপজীব্যও প্রেম। এই কবিতার কেন্দ্রবিন্দু "বনলতা সেন"- কবির কাছে 'বটবৃক্ষ সম' , চূড়ান্ত আশ্রয়স্থল। জীবনানন্দ নামক কাব্যকোষের নিউক্লিয়াস যেন "বনলতা সেন" । হাজার বছর ধরে তিল তিল করে গড়ে ওঠা বাংলা সাহিত্য যেন বনলতা সেনের সৌন্দর্য দর্শনে পূর্ণতা পেল। কবি দীর্ঘ জীবনের পথ পরিক্রমায় ধূসরতা ভেঙে দেখলেন বর্ণিল জগতকে। আত্মসমর্পণের জন্য বনলতা সেনের চেয়ে নিরাপদ কউকে খুঁজে পাননি। এই কবিতায় তিনি প্রচার করলেন "প্রেমের অবিনাশিতাবাদ তত্ত্ব"। তাঁর প্রেম যুগোত্তীর্ণ। জীবনানন্দের প্রধানতম কৃতিত্ব বিচিত্রমুখী অলংকার ব্যবহারে। অভিনব উপমা তাঁর কাব্যকে ঐশ্বর্যমন্ডিত করেছে। "উপমাই কবিত্ব" - কথাটি জীবনানন্দ ভালভাবেই প্রমাণ করেছেন। এই কবিতায় "পাখির নীড়ের মতো চোখ" উপমাটি বাংলা সাহিত্যে চোখের উপমায় নিঃসন্দেহে শ্রেষ্ঠত্বের দাবিদার। এতদিন ধরে "হরিণ-চোখ", "কাজল- কালো চোখ", "পটল-চেরা চোখ" - এ সমস্ত শুনেই অভ্যস্ত ছিলাম। জীবনানন্দ গতানুগতিকতার উর্ধ্বে। "পাখির নীড়ের মতো চোখ" - এই একটি মাত্র উপমাতেই তাঁর কবিত্বের শ্রেষ্ঠত্ব নিহিত হবার দাবি রাখে। প্রেমিকাকে এতদিন আমরা কেবল 'তুই-তুমি' সম্বোধনের মধ্যে সীমিত রেখেছিলাম। জীবনানন্দ এক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার করলেন সম্মানসূচক "আপনি (বনলতা সেন)"। সত্যি বলছি পৃথিবী যতদিন আছে, আমরা সর্বদাই তাঁর কাব্যের সৌন্দর্যের জলধারায় স্নাত হবো অহর্নিশ, নিরন্তর। [1] [2] [3]

সবুজ ঘাসের দেশ যখন সে চোখে দেখে দারুচিনি-দ্বীপের ভিতর,
তেমনি দেখেছি তারে অন্ধকারে; বলেছে সে, 'এতদিন কোথায় ছিলেন?'
পাখির নীড়ের মত চোখ তুলে নাটোরের বনলতা সেন।
মুখ তার শ্রাবস্তীর কারুকার্য; অতিদূর সমুদ্রের 'পর
হাল ভেঙ্গে যে নাবিক হারায়েছে দিশা
সবুজ ঘাসের দেশ যখন সে চোখে দেখে দারুচিনি-দ্বীপের ভিতর,
তেমনি দেখেছি তারে অন্ধকারে; বলেছে সে, 'এতদিন কোথায় ছিলেন?'
পাখির নীড়ের মত চোখ তুলে নাটোরের বনলতা সেন।
সমস্ত দিনের শেষে শিশিরের শব্দের মতন
সন্ধ্যা আসে; ডানার রৌদ্রের গন্ধ মুছে ফেলে চিল;
পৃথিবীর সব রং নিভে গেলে পান্ডুলিপি করে আয়োজন
তখন গল্পের তরে জোনাকির রঙে ঝিলমিল;
সব পাখি ঘরে আসে-- সব নদী-- ফুরায় এ-জীবনের সব লেনদেন;
থাকে শুধু অন্ধকার, মুখোমুখি বসিবার বনলতা সেন। [4]

Today I am a weary soul although the ocean of life around continues to foam,
Except for a few soothing moments with Natore’s Banalata Sen.
